Wrath of the Phantom Army

Heritage Watch (http://www.heritagewatch.org) is a non-governmental organization active throughout Cambodia on various projects to preserve the country’s cultural heritage. One project attempts to prevent looting of historical sites and to train Cambodians in rural areas about the role they can play in protecting their cultural heritage. Heritage Watch has published a comic book that tells the story, based on a well known Khmer legend, of how conniving in the removal of artifacts and the contents of ancient grave sites will incur the wrath of a phantom army. Dramatically illustrated with brief Khmer captions, it is distributed free, mostly in provinces where looting is especially rife. FOKCI has been a major supporter of this project.
